Solo Show
I have been going full blast painting up a storm with one
good eye in preparation for my Solo show at the Ocean County Artists Guild in
May. Despite the fact that it is still blurry, I am amazed that some of what I
thought was black is blue. For years now I knew I had trouble distinguishing navy blue from black but now the cataract blocks even the bright blues.

Just had cataract surgery
yesterday so I am working with one eye right now and missed posting
yesterday.
But back to GETTING HUNG, Molly Barnes has a list of steps to take to get your work shown and into galleries. I will be exploring the list, one at a time.
# 1 Become actively engaged in the art scene.
Most of us are shy and self involved in our art and inclined to avoid the "scene" but we have to get out and make contacts. We have to attend all the openings and receptions that we can. We have to look like an artist and be able to express our vision. We need to find out who is who. Who controls the galleries and shows and find ways by hook or by crook to reach them.
If you are in a big city, it may be easier to find all the shows and galleries (ie. New York - The New York Times) but if not it becomes harder. I am in New Jersey and there is no all encompassing list so I am going to try to develop one with your help. So please send me any art openings so we can share with us all.

I have just come across a great book that deals with how to get your Photographic Prints, Oil, Watercolor or Sculpture shown in a gallery or art show. This is a constant issue for most of us.The Book is entitled "How To Get Hung" by Molly Barnes. It is a humorous title but a well written serious book. I will be sharing the insights over the next few posts.
